September 20th 2010 - Leatherhead Choral Society’s MD wins national competition.
Earlier this year Making Music, which represents and supports amateur and semi-professional music groups of all genres throughout the United Kingdom, ran a competition to find a song to mark the organisation’s 75th birthday. Leatherhead Choral Society is delighted to announce that its Musical Director, Ian Assersohn, composed the winning entry “Sing as One”.
September 2010 - World Première of new cantata “The Song of Songs”.
“The Song of Songs” is a new setting of one of the Old Testament’s glittering treasures and the world’s most beautiful and mysterious love poems. It has been set to music by Leatherhead Choral Society’s Musical Director Ian Assersohn, and will receive its world première at the society’s concert “Love -Sacred and Profane” at the Menuhin Hall in Stoke D’Abernon on Saturday 27th November 2010 at 7.30 p.m.
